Our team will do our best to accommodate all appointment requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime we are open- please call and let us know if you think you have an emergency with your pet so we can be fully prepared.
Technician Appointments
Our skilled technicians (nurses) are a very important part of our team. In addition to helping the doctors provide the best care possible, they can offer some services without you needing to see the vet. These include:
- Post operative check ups (for minor operations) to make sure healing is progressing well.
- Nail trims
- Anal gland expression
- Subcutaneous fluid administration for pets and teaching owners to administer fluids
- Diabetic management training
- Tick removal
If you prefer to talk to our veterinarians you can always make an appointment with them instead.
After hours or if Dr. Sherer is unavailable, emergency services are provided by Allegheny Veterinary Emergency Trauma Specialists (AVETS) at 412-373-4200 and the PVS-EC at 412-492-9855.

Pet Insurance
We recommend pet insurance at Werntz Memorial Animal Hospital. We love delivering a high level of both medical and customer (and patient) care. We work hard to keep these costs down but when pets get sick from time to time there are unexpected expenses involved. If it's a serious illness it can be associated with a significant cost. Insurance can make a world of difference allowing us to provide the best care for your pet when they need it most.
Pet Shop
We have a variety of products in our pet shop in the reception area including treats, shampoos, toothpaste, combs and supplements that you can purchase for your pet!
