    David Sherer

Dr. Dave Sherer has always had a close bond with animals.  He was especially close with his family’s dog Buster when he was growing up. His dad was a cardiologist which drove his interest in medicine.  As he moved through his schooling- he knew the best way to combine these two loves was to become a veterinarian.

After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Sciences, Dr. Sherer attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  He moved to California following vet school to pursue an internship in small animal (dog and cat) medicine, surgery, and emergency and critical care.  Since moving back to Pittsburgh, Dr. Sherer has practiced in both emergency and general practice clinics.  One of the things that Dr. Sherer loves most about being a vet is the diversity of the profession. Vets have a chance to do many things through a day including doing exams, working in radiology, being a dentist, doing surgeries among other things.  The chance to do all of these things and to help people take the best care of their pets is a dream come true.

Dr. Sherer, and his wife Danelle, have two boys- Ellis and Oliver.  They also have 4 dogs, 5 cats, an 3 chickens.  In their free time you might find them outdoors, spending time with their family, listening to music or reading (or some combination of those).  They enjoy the sports and cultural opportunities that Pittsburgh has to offer.

    Dr. Kaitlyn Delancey

Dr. Kaitlyn Delancey Cichowicz has always had a passion for animals, so knowing what she wanted to be when she grew up was never a question. She loves animals of all kinds, but especially dogs, cats, horses, and cattle.

Dr. Delancey grew up in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. She did her undergraduate at the University of Findlay where she received her BS in Animal Science before attending Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she accepted an associate veterinary position at a busy multi-doctor practice in El Paso, Texas. While there, she really gained confidence and passion for her work as a veterinarian. After two very busy years, she decided to move back to her hometown of Pittsburgh and join WMAH, and is so excited to be back in her old stomping grounds!

She currently lives with her husband, Andy, and their three dogs - Niko, Stella, and Jake. In her free time, she enjoys local food and breweries/wineries, good music, outdoor activities with her dogs, and, of course, Pittsburgh sports (LETS GO PENS)!!!

  • Dr. Bryn Kreider
    Relief Veterinarian

Dr. Kreider grew up in Eastern PA before coming to Pitt for undergrad, where she studied Neuroscience. She always felt passionate about helping others and considered various medical professions. Losing her family dog, Sasha, made her realize that she wanted to dedicate herself to the human-animal bond and pursue veterinary medicine.

Dr. Kreider went to Philadelphia to attend graduate school at Penn Vet before heading back to Pittsburgh to start her career. She has strong interests in surgery, ultrasound, and helping guide owners as they make difficult decisions for their pets. She recently started an at-home euthanasia and palliative care business, Effy Everlasting, to further pursue this later passion.

Outside of work, Dr. Kreider enjoys backpacking, playing guitar, and spending time with loved ones, both two and four-legged. She has two cats, Thomas and Arthur, and a Golden Retriever named Gus.

  • Rachael F.

Rachael hails from a PA city east of here that is best not named in the Pittsburgh area. She graduated from Arcadia University with a degree in Animal Behavior and worked in cat rescue for 12 years before joining the Werntz team. She lives with her tripod Australian Shepherd and her aging felines. You will find Rachael hanging out with her friends, hiking with her dog in Pennsylvania State Parks, or sampling local breweries and restaurants.

    Cireena W.

Cireena grew up in western PA in a neighborhood abundant with stray cats, which acted as a stepping stone to her interest in helping animals. Her own cat, Persephone, joined the family at an important time and became the drive for her to take her interest seriously. She later enrolled and was accepted to her highschool vo-tech program for veterinary assistance. There she learned the basics of terminology, restraint, instruments, etc. and also spent some time volunteering at the local humane society. She then went on to graduate from the Vet Tech Institute of Pittsburgh and began her externship at WMAH, then later on passed her veterinary technician national exam. She enjoys painting, spending time with her cats, watching movies, and her job!
