    David Sherer

Dr. Dave Sherer has always had a close bond with animals.  He was especially close with his family’s dog Buster when he was growing up. His dad was a cardiologist which drove his interest in medicine.  As he moved through his schooling- he knew the best way to combine these two loves was to become a veterinarian.

After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Sciences, Dr. Sherer attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  He moved to California following vet school to pursue an internship in small animal (dog and cat) medicine, surgery, and emergency and critical care.  Since moving back to Pittsburgh, Dr. Sherer has practiced in both emergency and general practice clinics.  One of the things that Dr. Sherer loves most about being a vet is the diversity of the profession. Vets have a chance to do many things through a day including doing exams, working in radiology, being a dentist, doing surgeries among other things.  The chance to do all of these things and to help people take the best care of their pets is a dream come true.

Dr. Sherer, and his wife Danelle, have two boys- Ellis and Oliver.  They also have 4 dogs, 4 cats, 3 chickens, and 2 frogs.  In their free time you might find them outdoors, spending time with their family, listening to music or reading (or some combination of those).  They enjoy the sports and cultural opportunities that Pittsburgh has to offer.

  • Dr. Kaitlyn Delancey

Dr. Kaitlyn Delancey has always had a passion for animals, so knowing what she wanted to be when she grew up was never a question. She loves animals of all kinds, but especially dogs, cats, horses, and cattle.

Dr. Delancey grew up in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. She did her undergraduate at the University of Findlay where she received her BS in Animal Science before attending Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she accepted an associate veterinary position at a busy multi-doctor practice in El Paso, Texas. While there, she really gained confidence and passion for her work as a veterinarian. After two very busy years, she decided to move back to her hometown of Pittsburgh and join WMAH, and is so excited to be back in her old stomping grounds!

With her, she brought her 3 dogs (Cali, Niko, Stella) and a horse (Justy). In her free time, she enjoys local food and breweries/wineries, good music, outdoor activities with her dogs, and, of course, Pittsburgh sports (LETS GO PENS)!!!

  • Abby and Dogs
    Dr. Abby Frerotte

Abby Frerotte grew up all over the country but when her family moved back to Pittsburgh (their hometown) she quickly found a home at Werntz Memorial Animal Hospital as a technician. Abby was a technician every summer while she pursued her undergraduate degree at Haverford College. She then went to vet school at the University of Pennsylvania and after graduating completed a rotating internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC.

Her rotating internship taught her emergency and speciality skills that were invaluable to becoming the vet she is today. She has an interest in internal medicine and emergency and hopes to bring what she learned over the last year to WMAH.

She moved back to Pittsburgh with her two dogs (Lucy and Poe) and her partner (Will). In her free time she enjoys baking, reading, yoga and hiking.

She is thrilled to be back at Werntz where her veterinary career started and can’t wait to meet all of you.

  • Rachael F.

Rachael hails from a PA city east of here that is best not named in the Pittsburgh area. She graduated from Arcadia University with a degree in Animal Behavior and has worked in cat rescue for the last 12 years. She lives with ‘too many’ cats, but wouldn’t change a thing. She enjoys spending time with her friends, hiking, knitting, podcasts, and playing word games. Fun fact: one of her cats, Lord Nibbler, has a square foot of land in Scotland, legitimately earning him the title of Lord.Rachael
